People living in or around Newtown turned out in force between 17 and 22 October to take part in the public consultation organised by the I Love Newtown group.
The consultation was widely publicised, and during the week anyone interested was offered the opportunity to have their say about how they would like their town to develop, and what services and facilities they would like to see in Newtown. More than 400 people viewed an exhibition of possible ideas for the future development of the town and over 300 questionnaires were completed.
Some of the images shown might have been viewed as controversial but the consultation exercise achieved its aim in stimulating lively discussion amongst people who attended and encouraged people to think positively about Newtown and feel they could be more involved in deciding its future.
The responses have now been analysed, and the results are available in the documents you can download below. These results will be relayed to Powys County Council as a input into the Local Development Plan.
I Love Newtown is an independent voluntary group of residents and business people who care about the future of Newtown. Regular updates will be reported in Upper Severn News, in the County Times and via Facebook.
